Relationships
We are a small family run and operated business. Together we have built a family-based business and over the years have come to think of our clients as extended family. We not only invest our time helping them with their tax needs but also with the family relationships we are building. Between both Mother and Daughter, we are now seeing third and fourth generations of families within our office.
Staff Profiles
Guen Goff got her interest in individual income tax when her and her husband purchased the Romberg family chicken farm from her parents. While she understood the running of the farm, since she had grown up working in them, she soon saw the need to understand the financial part as well to insure no more taxes were paid than required.
She worked her 1st year as a tax preparer with an H&R Block office then went on to work with a local CPA office and enrolled in college for her accounting degree. Guen got the opportunity to purchase an H&R Block franchise and a company office. She owned and ran these offices for about five years before selling them.
From that time on she continued to prepare taxes as a second job out of her home while working as a bookkeeper for several local businesses. In 1985 she went to work on Marshall Space Flight Center for a NASA contractor and stayed there until she opened her own individual tax office in Henagar, Alabama.
Guen worked by herself until 2000 when her oldest child Micky joined up with her creating what is now GG Tax Service.
Micky Gilbert has been doing taxes since 2000.
Micky Gilbert grew up in farming country working on the family chicken farm as well as helping her mother do taxes out of her home at the kitchen table at night until she graduated high school, married and moved to Auburn and later into Athens, AL. During these years Micky worked as a business bankers secretary, a receptionist, a teller and finally a head teller at one of the busiest branches of AmSouth bank in Huntsville, AL until moving back home in 1999. After moving home, she took the tax course and in 2000 joined forces with her mother forming GG Tax Service.
Micky manages the office as well as prepares individual income taxes. She also handles the offices Sales Tax and Payroll clients. She is hoping to go back to college this year to finish her Accounting degree in order to add Bookkeeping to the company’s services as well.
